Hellertown planners examine new Atiyeh proposal for senior apartments
HELLERTOWN, Pa. – The Hellertown Planning Commission reviewed a sketch plan by developer Abe Atiyeh on Tuesday night at the administration building. The proposal, offered by Atiyeh's Exchange 21 LLC and slated for 30 Bachman St., calls for 43 apartment units over three stories. The housing would be for older adults. Of the 43 units, 27 would contain one bedroom with the remaining 16 having two bedrooms. The applicant is offering 40 parking spaces in a lower-level parking deck and is proposing to provide a total of 19 trees.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Members of the Allentown Police Department and citizens of the community will be recognized at a ceremony Wednesday. Northampton Area School District OKs proposed budget
The Northampton Area School District Board of Directors adopted a proposed 2024-25 budget with no tax increase on property owners. The board at their April 8 meeting directed Superintendent Joseph Kovalchik and Business Administrator Craig Neiman to produce a proposed final budget which held the line on taxes. This came after the duo offered various scenarios which included tax increases if Moore Elementary School was to close, and options if Moore was to remain open.

BASD calls for tax increase in 2024-25 budget
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bethlehem Area Board of School Directors on Monday voted to adopt the 2024-25 proposed budget calling for a 3% tax increase for property owners. All eastbound traffic lanes have reopened on Route 22 in Whitehall Township after a crash Sunday evening closed the highway.
