Hickey Family Commercial Fishing History
The Baileys Harbor Historical Society has scheduled a public presentation for 7 pm Wednesday, June 17 in the Town Hall Auditorium to celebrate History Days in Door County. Dennis Hickey will present “Hickey Family Commercial Fishing,” while also providing information on the fishing industry and Baileys Harbor area families. The men and women of the Hickey family have been fishing Lake Michigan waters since the mid-1800s.
Celebrate Door County Wines at Wine Fest June 22
The Door County Wine Fest is set for June 22 at the historic About Thyme Farm in Baileys Harbor. The 10 wineries of the Door County Wine Trail will serve tastings and provide details about each vintage. Four local food vendors will be present along with several Wisconsin cheesemakers offering free artisan cheese samples. Live music will be provided by Open Tab.

The Healing Power Of Sound
Midsummer’s Music will host the first event in its coffee talk series, titled “The Healing Power of Sound” on June 14, 10 am. Physician Maja Jurisic will lead the informal lecture and share the art and science of sound healing. Jurisic has long believed that the mechanistic model of health she learned in medical school is too narrow, finding that sound offers a pathway to inner balance that is accessible to everyone.
Peg Egan Summer Concert Series Announced
The Peg Egan Performing Arts Center has announced the schedule of performers for its 2024 summer concert series. The first concert is on June 23, when three performers will kick off the series: Milwaukee-based folk group Dead Horses, local pop/folk/blues band Dorothy Scott and The Peacekeepers, and renowned harmonica-player and singer-songwriter Corky Siegel with jazz violinist Randy Sabien.
