WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Augustana) — The No. 11 Augustana baseball team saw its 11-game win streak snapped on Friday night, falling 18-3 to No. 2 Central Missouri at Crane Stadium.

The Vikings (46-9) will take on Central Oklahoma (37-15) on Saturday at 2 p.m., for an elimination game. The Mules (49-8) await the winner at 6 p.m., standing one win away from a berth to the super regional.

Eight different Viking hitters combined for 10 hits, led by Parker Mooney’s 3 for 4 effort with a pair of RBI. They had three extra base hits as Sam Siegel and Jason Axelberg each doubled and Luke Ballweg hit a triple.

Ashton Michek struck out three in 4 1/3 while allowing eight runs for his third loss of the season.

Ryan Clementi opened the game with a single to center and Jack Hines got one of his own through the left side with one out to get a pair of Vikings on, but neither would cross the plate as the Mules battled out of it. UCM countered in the bottom of the inning with a sac fly to take a 1-0 lead.

The Mules scored two more in the bottom of the third to grow a 3-0 lead. The Vikings threatened again in the fourth as Drey Dirksen walked and Tate Meiners reached on an error with one out. Again, AU was unable to bring a run in. The Mules scored two runs in the third before a five spot in the fifth put them ahead 8-0.

AU found their way onto the scoreboard in the sixth inning. With two outs, Meiners singled and Ballweg tripled to drive him home. Three pitches later, Parker Mooney singled through the right side to bring home Ballweg and bring the Vikings within 8-2. The Mules scored five runs in the bottom of the inning to grow their lead to 13-2.

UCM scored four in the seventh to grow their lead even larger. With two outs in the eighth inning, Siegel doubled and Mooney drove him in with a single to cap the AU scoring. The Mules scored one more in the eighth inning to bring the game to its final score.
