    Cougar softball season ends with loss to Huskies

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (USF) – Cougar Softball closes out the season 20-28 following a 6-2 loss to St. Cloud State today.

    Alannah Naumann got the Coo going with a triple to start the game. Naumann scored shortly after on a wild pitch to give USF an early 1-0 lead in the first.

    Damaris Cuevas started the top of the 2nd with a lead off single before Makenzie Weber came in to pinch run. Hannah Fry laid down a sac bunt to advance Weber to second before Sioux Falls ended the inning with two left on base.

    The Huskies knocked two in during the bottom of the 3rd before adding four off a grand slam in the 4th.

    Sioux Falls added one in the top of the 6th when Cuevas doubled to center field to score pinch runner Jayden Haley , but it wasn’t enough to keep the Coo going.

    Maddi Duncan started in the circle for the USF throwing 3.2 innings before Campbell Petrick came in to close out the game.

    The Cougars finish the season 20-28 overall with an NSIC record of 11-15.
