    Demarico Young honored for high character at Hy-Vee Exercising Your Character virtual conference

    SIOUX CITY, IOWA (KCAU) – Sioux City North senior DeMarico Young was honored for his character on and off the gridiron at Hy-Vee’s Exercising Your Character virtual conference on Friday morning, selected as one of six outstanding student-athletes to present during the event.

    Young, who has been deaf since the age of three, is a standout athlete for the Stars and has committed to Simpson College to play football and run track. He also will receive an Iowa High School Athlete of the Year Award for Courage at a separate event Friday at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines.

    The award will honor Young for his work on and off the field.
