    Person critically hurt in Silver Spring crash

    MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service was at the scene of a critical crash Sunday night.

    The crash happened at about 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of University Boulevard and Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring. One of the cars involved hit a tree.

    Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the department, said paramedics were evaluating people with several injuries.

    One person was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, while another was taken to a hospital in critical, life-threatening condition. They were both in the same car at the time of the crash.

    The passengers in the other car involved were not injured and refused transport, Piringer said.

    Some lanes were blocked.
