15-Year-Old High School Prodigy Baba Oladotun Could Be The Next Kevin Durant
By Titan Frey,
A young and talented high schooler named Baba Oladotun is making waves and drawing comparisons to Kevin Durant, one of the NBA’s most prolific scorers and players. At just 15 years old, Oladotun from James Hubert Blake High School has already shown signs of a promising future in the sport, with a skill set and physical attributes that remind many of Durant.
Oladotun has not been the first player to be compared to Durant. In fact, many players have, including Kevon Looney. Of course, Looney and the other players, compared to Durant, have failed to live up to expectations.
How will Oladotun do? Can he reach the level of Kevin Durant?
Who Is Baba Oladotun?
Oladotun was born on December 15, 2008, in Silver Spring, Maryland. He currently stands at 6'8", with some reports claiming he's already 6'9". This is extremely impressive for a 15-year-old, as you know he'll grow a lot taller.
Oladotun started off his high school career at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, but later transferred to James Hubert Blake High School, which was closer to his home.
Not only is Oladotun turning heads from the media, but his teammates are quickly realizing he's special.
“He doesn’t make those freshman mess-ups. He’s just more ready for the game; he’s already polished. He’s ready to go,” Oladotun's teammate at Blake, senior Nick Womack, said . “… He has that ‘dog’ mentality where … he wants the next 10 buckets.”
On top of playing high school ball, Oladotun also plays on the Nike Circuit with Team Durant. This is extremely fitting, as he's been compared to Durant.
The reason Oladotun is being compared to Durant is due to his lengthy frame and exceptional shooting abilities. Similar to Durant, Oladotun can make jump shots from anywhere on the court, regardless of the distance.
In a recent game for Team Durant, Oladotun scored 29 points, as he led his team to victory. The best part about the game was the fact Durant was in attendance to watch Oladotun.
Oladotun is currently the top rated player in the 2027 draft class. If he continues to work hard and develop his game, there's no reason why he can't make it to the NBA one day.
If that happens, you never know. Oladotun could become the next Kevin Durant. Or better yet, he can become the first Baba Oladotun. Then, the sky would be the limit for this young phenom.
