Police are looking for two suspects who they believe are responsible for a weekend mass shooting at a Mississippi pool hall that killed one man and injured six other people. Officials with the Tchula Police Department report that the two suspects fired more than 50 rounds with an AK-47 and AR-15 during the shooting which happened after 11 p.m. on Friday, September 15, at Damix Pool Hall on Highway 49 South.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Responds to Two Separate Weekend Fatalities
On Saturday, September 16, 2023, at approximately 3:55 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 49E in Holmes County. A 2019 Ford Mustang driven by 53-year-old Michael Montesi of Tchula, MS, traveled south on Highway 49E when the vehicle left the roadway. Michael Montesi received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.
MHP trooper rescued after fiery crash in Wilkinson County

The crash occurred on September 15 when the trooper was responding to a call for service. The patrol vehicle left the road, collided with a culvert, and caught fire. A witness helped the trooper out of the overturned vehicle. The trooper sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The crash is currently under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
