Garfield County’s fire season is getting longer. Here are a few fire hazards to watch out for.
There are several uncertainties when it comes to summers in Garfield County. Things like the forecast, snowpack, water levels and water temperatures can fluctuate from year to year. One thing that remains steady, however, is fire danger. While in years past “fire season” has been labeled as a specific time...
Glenwood Springs continues without a fire chief — for now
The city of Glenwood Springs confirmed that it will not be moving forward with a job offer for the city’s new fire chief, at least for now. Earlier this week, all three fire chief finalists were informed that the city would be taking a different direction in their search for someone to fill the position, as confirmed by City Manager Steve Boyd.

Friday letters: Mock trial thanks, reducing carbon footprint, e-bikes and more
Thank you to the many community members who have supported Glenwood Springs High School Mock Trial throughout the years. This year the team placed 9th at the Empire World Championship and won the State Championship for the eighth time in program history, the most of any team in Colorado. Our mock trial program is one of the few public school teams to have national success, and that is largely due to the community support we can count on every year. Thank you.
