The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has launched a death investigation following the discovery of a decease person in a house in Siletz.

LCSO deputies served a scheduled Forcible Entry and Detainer (FED) Eviction issued by the Lincoln County Circuit Court for a residence at 724 SW Ferry Ave in Siletz, at 10 a.m. April 30.

“Deputies knocked on the door of the home multiple times to determine if anyone was home. Neighbors in the area advised deputies that the sole resident of the property was last seen approximately two days prior and did not have a functioning vehicle,” LCOD Patrol Sgt. Nick Vaille said.

Deputies obtained a phone number for the resident of the home and made attempts to make contact by phone. The deputies were unable to contact the resident by phone and observed no indication that anyone was home.

“Upon entry into the home, deputies located 57-year-old Miriam Barber deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Vaille said. “Deputies transitioned to an unattended death investigation, as required by Oregon law, and determined no suspicious activity was involved in the death.” There is no indication of risk to the community, according to the LCSO. The next of kin have been notified.
