OHS Indians Open Season with Road Victory at York
Friday night’s loss in football to York would bring Coach Jacob King’s basketball team back to nearly full strength, but with only two days before the season beginning with a road trip back to Jamestown to take on the Dragons. The Indians would take advantage as they were able to play double the number of players in the game, although Oneida had still yet to go full speed with either entire team. The dynamic duo of Mason and Grady Keeton would take over as the Indians secured a 65-58 win. Oneida opened up a 16-9 lead early after one, but the Dragons would gradually cut into the lead over the next two quarters. The Indians held a 29-24 lead at the half, but York would rally in the latter part of the third to tie the game up at 39-39. The fourth quarter belonged to Oneida as they were able to outrun and outmatch the Dragons, pulling away for a seven-point win. Mason Keeton led the way for Oneida with 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Grady Keeton added 21 points of his own with two assists. Hayden Brawner chipped in with 10 points and fi ve rebounds. Jaigen Morgan had an impressive fi rst start of his high school career with nine points. The Indians return to action on Tuesday, November 21st as they travel to take on Oakdale. Tipoff will follow the conclu-sion of the girls’ game at approximately 8 pm.
