    Buc-ee's, with its toothy Beaver mascot, has developed a following among travelers who consider the stores tourism destinations rather than just giant convenience stores.

    Now the franchise moves closer to breaking ground on it's first Louisiana store after the city, state and Federal Highway Commission signed a memorandum of understanding agreeing to the design concept of Interstate 20 interchange and service road that will accommodate the project.

    Shreveport Derby Day is returning to Shreveport on May 4. "We can't wait to utilize the beautiful new Town Center in Provenance for our Shreveport Derby Day," said Matt Snyder, Shreveport Derby Day organizer. This event will take place in the beautiful Provenance Community and will continue to carry out its tradition of being a vibrant outdoor celebration in honor of the Kentucky Derby.

    Rock and roll camp

    Unleash your inner rock star at a unique adult rock and roll music camp experience in downtown Lafayette. Presented by Danny Devillier who designed the Good Time Rock Retreat as a "transformative rock camp specifically designed for adults."

    Devillier has worked as a professional musician for more than 20 years and owns The Music Room teaching studio. He believes the Good Time Rock Retreat is a way for adults to have fun. "This camp is tailored for adults aged 21 and over," Devillier said. "Kids have so many outlets to express themselves, but it’s rare to find something for grown folks to just really let loose."

    This Shreveport icon has been working in six-month increments since 1986, and her retirement is no exception. Pam Atchison, executive director of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, will retire from the arts council at the end of the year.

    She now has made her transition into her new role as the director of Christmas in the Sky. For the past 38 years, Atchison has served as the executive director of SRAC and has been a visionary and trailblazer for the arts in northwest Louisiana. During her tenure, she created ArtBreak, reimagined the Texas Street Bridge and helped create a thriving arts community in downtown Shreveport.
