SHERWOOD, Ark. – A shocking world record was broken Monday in Sherwood by students and teachers in the Pulaski County Special School District.

Just under 3,000 students, 3rd through 12 th grade, joined hands creating the world’s longest human electric circuit.

The kids are from Sylvan Hills Elementary and High School.

Each student held hands with the circuit complete and proven energy passing from one to the other, with an energy stick lighting up.

This year the school’s theme happened to be appropriate – Connected.

“Wanted to be connected to their students, to each other and here we are bringing almost three thousand people together to literally be connected, and have that sense of electricity,” Jessica Duff with PCSSD said. “And breaking a world record while we do it.”

The entire project was a year in the making. The close-to-3,000-people-strong circuit smashed the old record of 1,700 set by a school district in Florida.
