J. Taylor Finley Middle School's Blue Soccer Team Takes on Suffolk's Top Teams
The J. Taylor Finley Middle School 'blue' soccer team, made up of seventh and eighth graders, recently played against some top teams in Suffolk. The team is coached by Alex Nelson, a high school physical education teacher. The school has two boys' soccer teams, the 'blue' and 'white' teams, named for the school's colors. The 'blue' team's key players were eighth-grade striker Jordan Aguilar and center backs Giankarlos Bracero and Artturi Landau.

The East End officially has a covered full-size ice rink. Peconic Hockey celebrated the grand opening of its domed rink at Veterans Memorial Park in Calverton Saturday with ceremonies and a ribbon-cutting attended by members of the New York Islanders organization, including the team’s first captain, Ed Westfall, for whom the Calverton rink is named.
Cross Country, Girls’ Soccer All-Conference Athletes Announced

Local Pride: William Floyd Colonials Clinch 14th Suffolk County Football Championship
The William Floyd Colonials varsity football team, led by head coach Paul Longo, won the Suffolk County Championship for the 14th time. The championship game was on November 17 at Stony Brook University’s Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The Colonials defeated Sachem North 26-9, with a supportive crowd cheering them on. Their next game is the Long Island Division I Championship against Massapequa at Hofstra University on November 24.
