    Here is a daily list of the top performers from Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties during the 10th week of spring sports action.

    Our weekly top performers list and athlete of the week nominees are compiled courtesy of information provided to The Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star by coaches, athletic directors or team statisticians through emails, MaxPreps or mentioning @JoeLHughesII in game results and highlights posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.

    Drew Dixon, Burns: Hit a solo home run in a 10-0 win over Highland Tech.

    Gabe Holliday, Burns: Was 2-for-3 with two RBIs

    Camden Mackall, Burns: Was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

    Marshall McGowan, Burns: Was 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, six RBIs and three runs scored. He also pitched two innings, allowing no runs or hits with four strikeouts.

    Colby Putnam, Burns: Was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. He also pitched four innings, allowing no runs on three hits with six strikeouts.

    Jackson Toney, Burns: Was 2-for-3.

    Parker Anderson, Cherryville: Was 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a 3-0 win over East Gaston.

    Bryan Bumgardner, Cherryville: Pitched four innings, allowing no runs on two hits with five strikeouts. Eli Newsome, Cherryville: Pitched three innings, allowing no runs on two hits with eight strikeouts.

    Brayden Reynolds, Cherryville: Was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

    Dylan Howell, East Gaston: Allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits with eight strikeouts in six innings of the Warriors’ 3-0 loss to Cherryville.

    Jacob Smith, Lincoln Charter: Was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in a 4-1 win over Pine Lake Prep. He also pitched five innings, allowing a run on four hits with four strikeouts.

    Aaron Owenby, Piedmont Community Charter: Pitched a complete game, allowing a run on six hits with 10 strikeouts in a 6-1 win over Queen’s Grant.

    Noah Sanders, Piedmont Community Charter: Had a hit and an RBI.

    Softball

    Karlye Clay, Burns: Was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored in a 17-3 win over East Gaston.

    Laylah Haynes, Burns: Was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and four runs scored.

    Emma Walker, Burns: Had two hits. She also pitched five innings, allowing three runs on six hits with two strikeouts.

    Laney Williams, Burns: Was 2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a run scored.

    Taylor Digh, Cherryville: Was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in a 15-5 win over Shelby.

    Alexis McSwain, Cherryville: Was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.

    Ava Miller, Cherryville: Was 3-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored.

    Carson Summey, East Gaston: Had two hits in a 17-3 loss to Burns.

    Hailey Fiora, Lincoln Charter: Was 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs scored in a 15-0 win over Langtree Charter.

    Catie Houser, Lincoln Charter: Was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored.

    Lydia Potts, Lincoln Charter: Was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

    Sarah Terrell, Lincoln Charter: Hit a home run along with three RBIs and scored two runs.

    Kiley Welch, Lincoln Charter: Was 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored.

    Caroline Curtis, Shelby: Was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in a 15-5 loss to Cherryville.

    Track and field

    Host Kings Mountain swept the Big South 3A championships on May 1.

    The Mountaineer girls team scored 139 points, 25 points clear of second place Ashbrook. Kings Mountain’s boys team racked up 157 points, 37 more than second place Hunter Huss.

    Award winners included:

    • Boys: Max Thompson, Kings Mountain (top track athlete); Jonathan Moore, Ashbrook (top field athlete); Anthony Reynolds, Hunter Huss (top overall athlete); Rayvis Key (Big South 3A Coach of the Year)
    • Girls: Rachel Tolbert, South Point (top track athlete); Alanna Snelson, Kings Mountain (top field athlete); Zaniah Field, Kings Mountain (top overall athlete); Hailey Raza-Spearman, Kings Mountain (Big South 3A Coach of the Year)

    Here are event winners from Wednesday’s meet.

    Boys

    • Ashbrook: Amir Goins (400 meters); 4x400-meter relay; Jonathan Moore (discus).
    • Hunter Huss: Anthony Reynolds (300-meter hurdles, triple jump); 4x100-meter relay; 4x200-meter relay.
    • Kings Mountain: Kemari Houze (100 meters); Max Thompson (800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters); Tyler McIntyre (110-meter hurdles); 4x800-meter relay; Hunter Cruise (pole vault); Thomas Fair (shot put).
    • South Point: Bryson Lomick (100, 200 meters)
    • Stuart Cramer: JaDon Hope (high jump); Taelan Whitley (long jump).

    Girls

    • Ashbrook: Mahogany Spikes (100 meters); Jada Saterwhite (800 meters); 4x200-meter relay; 4x400-meter relay; 4x800-meter relay; Camryn Massey (discus, shot put).
    • Hunter Huss: Akira Walker (200, 400 meters); Lavaria Thompson (triple jump).
    • Kings Mountain: Sarah Eagle (1,600, 3,200 meters); Zaniah Field (100-meter hurdles, long jump); 4x100-meter relay; Alanna Snelson (high jump, pole vault).
    • South Point: Rachel Tolbert (300-meter hurdles).

    Zackery Badger, Bessemer City: Was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

    Cole Richardson, Bessemer City: Was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

    Talon Dalton, Cherryville: Was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in an 11-1 win over Thomas Jefferson.

    Brayden Reynolds, Cherryville: Was 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored. He also pitched three innings, allowing a run on one hit with five strikeouts.

    Jonathan Black, Crest: Was 3-for-3 with two runs scored in a 5-2 win over Kings Mountain.

    Camden Cobb, Crest: Pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits with two strikeouts.

    Landry Ohmstead, Crest: Was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

    Parker Ramsey, Crest: Was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

    Zack Rayfield, Crest: Was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

    David Nicks, Gaston Christian: Was 2-for-3 with a run scored in a 4-3 loss to Hickory Grove Christian.

    Coleman Schafer, Highland Tech: Was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a 10-3 win over Bessemer City.

    Erwing Soza, Highland Tech: Pitched a complete game, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits with seven strikeouts.

    Benjamin Kimmel, Hunter Huss: Pitched a complete game, allowing a run on three hits with 11 strikeouts. He also had a double and scored a run.

    Clifton Whitworth, Hunter Huss: Had two hits.

    Tucker Cash, Kings Mountain: Was 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 5-2 loss to Crest.

    Chase Ghantt, North Gaston: Pitched 3 ⅓ innings, allowing no runs on one hit with seven strikeouts in a 2-1 loss to South Point.

    Talan McConnell, South Point: Pitched 4 ⅔ innings, allowing a run on two hits with eight strikeouts in a 2-1 win over North Gaston.

    Cooper Collier, Stuart Cramer: Had a double, RBI and a run scored in an 11-0 win over Forestview.

    Hunter Dye, Stuart Cramer: Was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
