SHEBOYGAN FALLS — A notice filed with the State of Wisconsin regarding the layoff of nearly 90 temporary workers at Johnsonville was filed in error, according to the company.
Staff Management, an employee recruitment and placement service, filed an April 19 notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development informing that 87 temporary production line associates at the sausage manufacturer would be laid off May 3.
"We regret to inform you that Staff Management Solutions, LLC will be conducting a reduction in force at its Johnsonville facility located at N7018 Johnsonville Way, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085," Staff Management said in the notice. "Johnsonville is relocating two of its production lines and there may be job opportunities for these temporary employees within other parts of the business."
A Johnsonville spokesperson said this notice was filed in error, possibly as a result of internal miscommunication at Staff Management, and has been withdrawn. The notice was still accessible on the WARN webpage as of Thursday morning.
"I can confirm our work with and need for Staff Management temporary employees is not changing at this time, as we've discussed with Staff Management," the Johnsonville spokesperson said in an email.
When asked if the 87 temporary workers would stay in the production line associate positions mentioned in the notice for the foreseeable future, the spokesperson said there is "no change" in Johnsonville's work with Staff Management at this time.
Staff Management is hiring temporary and short-term production food associates in the packaging and inspection department at Johnsonville, according to an April 8 posting.
Staff Management could not be reached for comment for this story.
