Speed limit enforcement coming to Yoctangee Park with new ordinance

CHILLICOTHE— For years, drivers going through Yoctangee Park have been encouraged to drive slowly and watch out for pedestrians and wildlife, but a recent ordinance passed by Chillicothe's City Council just codified these limits. More Park News: Ribbon cutting held for the first completed Yoctangee Park upgrade Previously, Chillicothe did not have any specifically established speed limits for Tritscheller Road, Enderlin Circle, Yaple Road, Back Road, and Borlands Crossing. In a request to council, Safety Service Director Jeff Carman stated that codifying speed limits for these roads would give police clear legal authority to enforce speeding violations within the park. The new speed limits for these roadways in Yoctangee Park are 10 mph. This legislation was passed during the Oct. 26 regular city council meeting. In the same request to the council, Carman requested officials consider a speed limit for the Paint Creek Recreational Trail within city limits. Motor vehicles are not permitted on the path, but e-bikes are. A committee is currently looking into this request.
