WICOMICO COUNTY – Final changes are being made to Wicomico County’s budget, but the County Council and the Office of the Executive are still not seeing eye-to-eye. The two sides have publicly disagreed on several points, with the council making some key changes to the executive’s proposed budget. As it stands, the $205 million budget is currently the largest in the county’s history–representing roughly a 5-percent increase over last year.

The stalemate over Salisbury's fire service agreement with Wicomico County continues, with the ongoing funding gap is still being debated. A statement released Sunday by Salisbury Career Fire Fighters Local 4246 stated "county council is looking to cut $600,000 from an already proposed and agreed upon amount of $2,000,000 between the county executive and city of Salisbury government, to fund fire and EMS services provided by the Salisbury Fire Department to the county portions of the Salisbury Fire district."
