Drive Safe Weld County retires car involved in deadly 2005 crash
WELD COUNTY, Colo. — Drive Smart Weld County will retire the crash car that belonged to 22-year-old Zach Maurer, who died in a car crash back in 2005. Maurer was killed in a single vehicle rollover crash on September 20, 2005. According to his mom, Lori Stutts, not wearing a seatbelt, speed and driving under the influence of alcohol played a role that day.

A Northern Colorado family says they are fortunate to all be alive after an overnight fire nearly trapped them while they were sleeping. The Lopez family's home in the northern part of Fort Collins recently burned down, but smoke alarms helped alert them before they were trapped. "We were sleeping because it was 3:30 in the morning," said Lorena Lopez, the homeowner. Lopez said she, and her children, were lucky to be alive following the fire. "My daughter woke up screaming.
