    Seminole girls place second in Class 4A state golf tournament

    Led by Kilee Ivy's 21st-place finish, Seminole earned runner-up in the team standings of the Class 4A girls golf tournament Tuesday at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.

    Ivy shot a 79 in the final round for a two-day 159. Presley Roberts (163), Chloe Doerksen (164), Maggie Duncan (165) and Makenna Neufeld (166) followed for a team total of 649, one stroke ahead of San Antonio Davenport for second place.

    Andrews ran away with the state championship at 606. The Mustangs had the eighth, ninth and 10th-place finishers.

    Idalou's Olivia Ortiz shaved 12 strokes off her first round to finish tied for ninth in 3A. Ortiz fired a 78 Tuesday at ShadowGlen Golf Club in Manor to total 168 for the tournament. She shot the fourth-best final round.

    In 1A, Borden County's B.K. Behrens had the best area finish at 20th. She shot a 101 Tuesday for a two-round 206 at Crystal Falls Golf Club in Leander.

    Klondike's Grace Stevens followed in 21st place with 207. Borden County placed seventh as a team and Klondike was 10th.

    Lazbuddie's Ila Combs, competing as an individual, placed 27th with a 219.

    Borden County boys win 1A title

    Borden County had a final-round score of 326 to win the 1A boys championship by nine strokes at Crystal Falls. It was the best round of any team in the tournament.

    Garrison Proctor led the way for the Coyotes, who totaled 681 to finish in front of runner-up Wildorado (690). Proctor fired a 167 to tie for 10th.

    Koda Bigham followed in 13th with 168, and Holt Freeman placed 17th with 170. Tucker Nesbit (176) and Kasen Oats (198) also competed for Borden County.

    Springlake-Earth's Tyler Tanaro fired a 163 to finish fifth. He led the Wolverines to fourth in the team standings.
