Tenth-ranked Morgan Academy was the last Dallas County school left in the prep baseball playoffs.

The Senators were swept by top-seeded Glenwood Academy in the AISA Class 3A best-of-3 quarterfinal series, losing 9-0 and 12-3 on April 25. The Senators finished the season 15-12 and ranked in the Alabama Sports Writers Association Top 10 poll.

Morgan Academy will be an improved team next season, as Milton Hand was the only team loaded with underclassmen. The other players are: Jake Sams, Trevor White, Travis Jones, Rhett Thomas, Martin Wilkinson, Wood Jones, Caden Tellier, Cade Henderson, Wallis Gilmore, Taylor Sigler, Speedie Pernell, Barron Frazer, Harrison Jones and Aiden Fonsetto. Paul Thomas is the coach.

Hand, an All Dallas County selection in football and basketball, said it was an enjoyable season.

“It was a good season,” Hand said. “We were happy to make the playoffs after not making it last year. It’s sad to leave, but I’m happy to know that the future is bright for them next year with not losing so many players.”
