Wait, isn’t Hoxeyville, Wellston’s big music fest, in August? It sure is, but you can get a taste of the August fun May 31 through June 2 with their debut Hoxeyville Spring event. Dark Star Orchestra headlines along with The Allman Betts Band, Leftover Salmon, local group The Sweetwater Warblers, and nearly a dozen more bands and musicians. And, as is custom, the best way to stay and play is by camping on the Hoxeyville grounds in your tent, van, or even an RV. Ticket prices range from $80 for day passes to $175 for camping and show tickets, with discounts for kids 5-15 (those under 5 attend free). There’s even an option to add on a canoe trip ($80) or a raft trip ($125) on Saturday or Sunday along the Pine River. Mom killed by out-of-control vehicle at Silver Lake State Park, but saves life of 2-year-old, deputies say
OCEANA COUNTY — A woman is dead after a Jeep apparently went out of control at Silver Lake State Park, officials said. The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office said it happened just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday on the Drag Strip area of the state park. Deputies said a Jeep CJ, driven by a 64-year-old Michigan man, was racing and lost control. It then veered toward a family that was there watching the race, deputies said. The Jeep then hit a parked vehicle, which hit 33-year-old Kadie Price from Pierson, Michigan, deputies said.
