Wrightstown woman to open assisted living home focused on compassion
Wrightstown. It will be called Our Family, Our Home." id="92022161007"> After working in the health care field for years, Macaela Cornelisson of Wrightstown found that much of care is basically “cookie cutter.” That led her to consider alternatives; especially in elderly care. With the support of her husband, Travis, and family members, a plan came together. Since the nearest assisted living facility is about 15 miles from Wrightstown, the community had a need. And she had a dream to create a compassionate, family-centered home. The name selected − Our Family, Our Home − was chosen to reflect her desire that residents and employees would feel a sense of belonging. “I want to be able to provide the community with compassionate senior living close to home,” she said. “My goal is to make this everybody’s home where residents are treated like extended family.” Cornelisson, who has degrees in nursing and psychology and a doctorate as a nursing practitioner, began her nursing career more than a decade ago, gaining experience in a variety of areas. From 2020-25, she worked at a long-term care and rehab facility and oversaw 130 staff members in a facility that had 88 residents. “That’s where I got

Blood supply hits critical low for third straight month

The Community Blood Center says supplies of multiple blood types have dropped below a two- to three-day supply, falling short of its five-day target. A surge in emergency medical needs has severely strained local blood supplies, particularly Type O and Type B Negative.
