SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A big day at Islands High School as four athletes announced where they would continue their athletic careers.

Dilynn Weaver, a softball player, is taking her talents to Montreat College. It’s about 30 minutes outside of Ashville, North Carolina.

“They had a really pretty area,” Weaver said. “The student life there was what I was drawn to, like, the smaller school. I think I’m going to have a really good time there over the next four years.”

Palmer Walker, a lacrosse player, will play for Lagrange Georgia. He’s been playing for the sport for eight years, but just two at the high school level.

“Not many schools in Georgia have a lacrosse team,” Walker said. “I was also looking at a school with an aviation program. They had both. It was just like it seemed like a perfect fit.”

Two girls soccer players headed to Georgia Military College. Sydni Polite a goalie, racked up the honors at Islands. Aimee Silvoy will join her. She’s been playing soccer for 14 years.

“I definitely don’t think I’m going to go in there knowing everything,” Polite said. “I’m going to learn a lot from the coaches and year, just learn a lot.”

“Everyone made a pretty big impact to me,” Silvoy said. “The coaches were really nice. When I was practicing with the team, the environment was really good. It made a pretty easy decision.”
