After beating Valencia in the Division 4 Championship, West Ranch boys’ volleyball advanced to the Division 3 State Tournament. In the first round, the Wildcats hosted the CIF Division 5 Champions Sage Hill.

In their bout, West Ranch defeated Sage Hill in four sets: 25-14, 19 -25, 25-17 and 25-18.

On offense, juniors Logan Sanchez and Noah Douphner led the way with 11 kills each. Sanchez and Douphner both had a block to go along with their strong play on offense.

While they each had a block, senior Aiden Prestridge led the team with two of his own.

“As a coach, all you can ask of your players is that they work hard and improve,” said West Ranch Boys Volleyball Head Coach Brandon Johnson in a previous interview. “That is exactly what this group did and I could not be more proud of what they have accomplished.

Off the court, the team has had some accomplishments, including winning the CIF Academic Award.

Among all boys’ volleyball teams, West Ranch had the best grade point average (3.8).

Now West Ranch Heads into the quarter-finals against Mission Vista on Thursday at 6 p.m.
