Brush Fire Breaks Out In Canyon Country, Train Traffic Halted

A brush fire broke out in Canyon Country Monday afternoon.

The brush fire, dubbed the Whitney Fire, was first reported around 2:25 p.m. on Via Princessa and Whites Canyon Road in Canyon Country, said Kaitlyn Aldana, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department .

As of 2:29 p.m., the fire is at a half acre with no structures threatened.

Crews on scene have requested that all train traffic on the Antelope Valley Line be stopped due to fire activity near the tracks.

The fire was brought under control with no further developments.
