Cinco De Mayo Weekend Sees Significant Decrease In Arrests

Over the Cinco De Mayo weekend, arrests were nearly slashed in half from 17 the previous week to only 10.

In usual fashion, DUIs ranked amongst the most common reasons for arrests . This weekend, it accounted for 40 percent of all arrests made.

One of the people arrested for DUI was a 55-year-old San Fernando man who works as an Uber driver.

Following DUIs, the most popular reasons for arrests were domestic violence and possession of a controlled substance, making up a combined 40 percent of total arrests.

The remaining 20 percent of arrests were for violating parole and making criminal threats against another.

Eighty percent of arrests were made by the deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station , while the California Highway Patrol Newhall Office only accounted for 20 percent.

From the pool of 10 people arrested, six of them were non-residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.
