Coleman High School claims the Academic District Championship for the 3rd year in a row. Early police make arrest of driver with 31.07 grams of meth in possession
The Early Police Department issued the following press release Friday morning:. On Thursday, March 23 Early PD officers, along with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Early Blvd. on a traffic violation. A computer check on the driver, Rhonda Lea Earp, indicated the driver’s license was suspended at which time she was placed under arrest.
Valera Baptist Church to Celebrate the Resurrection

Coleman High School Rocketry Team Enter Qualifying Flights for The America Rocketry Challenge (TARC)
Coleman High School Engineering, Research and Design students Neveah Eldred and Bethany Jones recently flew their official qualifying flights to enter the 2023 American Rocketry Challenge. TARC (The American Rocketry Challenge) is the world’s largest rocket contest, with nearly 5,000 students nationwide competing annually. The contest provides students in 6th-12th grades the opportunity to design, build, and launch model rockets and gain hands on experience solving engineering problems. After official qualification flights are submitted to TARC, the top 100 teams in the nation are invited to attend the National Finals in Washington, D.C. The teams selected for the national competition are selected based on their lowest combined qualifying scores. The teams invited to advance to the national contest will be announced April 12, 2023.
Sisters on the Fly Spend Weekend in Coleman
The Sisters on the Fly have returned to spend the weekend in Coleman. You'll find their cool camping trailers in the downtown area as they enjoy all things Coleman County. The trailer tour is between 1pm and 3pm today (Saturday). The Sisters are the largest women's social group in the United States focusing on camping, outdoor activities and events. I’m not the greatest track and field man who has ever existed, but I do have a couple, well maybe three, highlights – actually two highlights and one low light since I first attended the Bluebonnet Relays. I don’t remember the first year because that’s how big a fan I was, but probably the first vivid memory I have is back in the mid-sixties, and at that time Brownwood hosted the meet and they would normally invite at least seven big schools to come in and compete. Old Lions Stadium at that time was just a dirt track but we would always get some pretty good competition.

HPU invites public to banquet honoring Dr. Leonard Underwood
Howard Payne University recently announced the first Robnett Founders Dinner, an annual event inviting alumni, friends, corporate partners, communities of Brown County and other members of the HPU family to come together to honor an individual who has made a significant impact on the university and in the furtherance of its work in the lives of students. Distinguished Brownwood leader Dr. Leonard Underwood has been named as the first recipient of the Robnett Founders Award and will be recognized at the event, to be held on Thursday, March 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Brownwood Coliseum.

Ribbon Cutting Held at Stardust Retreat
The Coleman County Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting at Stardust Retreat, 605 W. Hillside Drive in Coleman (former Earle Smith home), on Friday, March 24, at 11:00 am. The owner is Shelley Seale. Tours were given of the landmark home in Coleman. Spread over nearly 4 acres on a private wooded hilltop, Stardust Retreat consists of two separate homes, both of which were built in the late 1950s and retain all of that fun, gorgeous retro style.
