Sandy FFA prepares variety of plants for annual fundraiser sale

Getting your planter boxes and gardens ready for the summer and in need of plants?

Go buy them from the Sandy FFA Club and benefit their program From Friday, May 3, to Saturday, May 11.

The sale takes place at the Sandy High School, 37400 Bell St., at the following dates and times:

3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 310 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 410 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 1010 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11

This year, prices range from $1 to $30, with everything from small herb plants to large planter baskets being offered. All the plants are grown by the students at the high school.

“If you would like the best selection, come early in the sale,” advisor Trisha Smith said. “Our sale is different than many other plant sales because all the plants are grown here and not just purchased by our group and sold.”

For more than two decades the FFA students have hosted this two-weekend event to raise funds, and the sale helps defer costs of traveling for competitions and other programs.

“I appreciate how it brings in a different clientele than donkey basketball,” Smith added. “I enjoy seeing the people and families year after year, and it’s more personal.”
