The fastest thing at Cedar Point Tuesday night was not a rollercoaster.

Faster than you can "Hey is that gate closed?" the park's two resident camels − Sampson and Artie − took an unauthorized stroll along Frontier Trail.

Update: PETA calls for federal probe into escape of camels from petting zoo at Cedar Point

The pair are among the various critters who take up residence in the park's Barnyard Petting Zoo during the season.

Several videos were posted in social media showing stunned parkgoers watching the pair walk along the Frontier-themed area.

Park officials say the mischievous camels were quickly corralled by workers and no one was hurt during the great escape.

This incident comes on the heels of videos posted over the weekend of park guests swatting and running from swarms of so-called mayflies and midges that number in the tens of thousands along the shores of Lake Erie this time of year.
