The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in Mesa in connection with a non-fatal shooting in San Tan Valley.

At around 1:10 a.m., March 29, PCSO was called to a home off Gantzel Road and Empire Boulevard in San Tan Valley. A woman inside the home reported that her ex, identified by PCSO as 28-year-old Edward Figueroa, allegedly broke in through a window and started shooting at her and her current boyfriend.

The woman was not injured, and the boyfriend was shot in the leg. He was transported to the hospital for treatment, PCSO reported on its Facebook page.

PCSO stated that there were two children present in the home at the time of the incident, but they were uninjured.

Before deputies arrived, Figueroa had allegedly left in a vehicle, PCSO stated.

PCSO tracked the suspect over the next several days, ultimately locating him on Wednesday at an apartment complex near Broadway Road and Mesa Drive in Mesa.

PCSO alleged that Figueroa initially barricaded himself inside the apartment, but later surrendered. He was arrested and booked into the Pinal County jail.

"Great work by my deputies, detectives and assisting city of Mesa Police Department officers making sure this violent offender did not get away with terrorizing these victims," PCSO Sheriff Mark Lamb stated in the Facebook post. "It is a miracle no one was killed. He will now be held accountable for his actions."
