Mesquite baseball playing rare underdog role late in season
It’s been an uncharacteristic season by Mesquite’s terms for the Wildcat baseball program this spring. They started hot early in the season, beating teams in tournament games and non-region foes. However, as they entered the meat of their schedule, the region play games, Mesquite has found itself in a bit of a slump nearing the final month of the season.

The Queen’s Ransom: A Buffet of Surfaces
This year, over 30 people—some local and some from as far away as Canada—headed to Arizona to take part in a difficult five-day trip through the Sonoran Desert across technical and demanding terrain. The group consisted of bikepacking beginners like me through to accomplished bikepacking veterans. The Queen’s Ransom is a “re-group ride,” which means riders pedal at their own pace but meet at a designated camp every night. The route starts and ends in Queen Creek Arizona, a suburb southeast of Phoenix. Organized by John Schilling, the singletrack-heavy route took us through some of the best riding in the Phoenix area.

St. John Paul II Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of the Chandler Prep Titans by a score of 12-11. The result was an unpleasant reminder to St. John Paul II Catholic of the 16-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.
