New, larger structure for Steam Pump market shade
Oro Valley is about to spend up to $579,000 to purchase and install a 26-by-180-foot shade structure at Steam Pump Ranch. The new steel structure, intended to protect vendors and guests at the Saturday farmers market and to keep summer campers cool, would replace three 12-by-50-foot wood structures that were smashed the night of July 21 by a motorist in a white pickup truck. The heavily damaged shelter became unusable, was identified as a safety hazard and was removed.
