    8 things to do in San Diego this weekend

    SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Another weekend has arrived, and it’s ready to pack a punch for those looking to get out and about in San Diego.

    From concerts and comedy to food festivals, here are eight things to do across the region May 18-19:

    Caltrans to host two free ‘Dump Day’ events this weekend

    Yesterdaze Vintage Clothing Event

    For those who enjoy shopping for unique items, San Diego’s Music Box venue is transforming into a vintage clothing market starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. There will be vintage treasures as well as live music to set the vibe for browsing. Over 20 vendors are expected to participate with hats, sneakers, vinyl and more.

    San Diego International Fringe Festival

    This non-profit project is meant to highlight local artist, as well as those across the U.S. There will be theater acts, street performers, comedy, dance, poetry, music performances, visual art and more. The festival will spans across different venues in San Diego. Passes, referred to as a fringe tag, costs $7 for ticketed shows. There are some free programs as well.

    OB Kite Festival

    Head over to the OB Dog Beach for this family and pup-friendly event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free kite-making materials and instructions will be provided. There will be several prize contests, as well as kite games like “Chase the Tail,” “Candy Drop” and “Races.” On top of that, there will also be a street fair with artisans, community booths and food trucks.

    El Cajon Foodie Fest

    This annual festival is set to kick-off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 200 Civic Center Way. The event will feature over a dozen of El Cajon’s most popular restaurants, along with local food vendors. There will be all-you-can-eat tastings that include appetizers, desserts, specialty drinks and more. Aside from food, there will be live entertainment, games, crafts and attractions for those of all ages.

    Fiesta del Sol Beach Music Festival

    Held at Fletcher Cove Park in Solana Beach both Saturday and Sunday, a wave of artists are set to perform at this seaside music festival. The best thing about this event is that it’s totally free to attend. That means your money can be put towards the 20+ food vendors. Plus, there will be a kid zone for the younger crowd.

    Hops in the Hills

    This brew festival is being held at San Elijo Park Lower Softball Field, located in San Marcos, on Saturday. The event will showcase some of the best local craft beers, mead, hard kombuchas and wines. There will be also be live DJs providing entertainment, as well as plenty of food options. Proceeds from Hops in the Hills will support surrounding area schools.

    A Day at the Park (Pepper Park)

    This free and family-friendly event is being presented by the Port of San Diego. It’s a multicultural celebration on the National City Bayfront. There will be an array of performances by local artists and musicians. There will also be a kids zone, food vendors and goods from local makers. A Day at the Park kicks-off at noon Saturday.

    Tanya Tucker concert

    American singer-songwriter Tanya Tucker is set to perform at the Magnolia in El Cajon Sunday night. Tickets were still available as of Friday with seats starting at $49.25. The show is part of her “Sweet Western Sound Tour.” There will be a pre-party in the plaza with taco stand food and specialty cocktails.
