The Padres defeated the Reds 6-2 today to win the series 2 games to 1. Joe Musgrove bounced back from his recent struggles in a big way, striking out 9 hitters and allowing just 2 runs over 6 innings to earn his 3rd quality start in 4 outings. With the score tied at 2 apiece in the 7th inning, the Padres mounted a rally against reliever Fernando Cruz. Tyler Wade leadoff with a bunt single, followed by Jurickson Profar's 4th single of the game. Fernando Tatis Jr. drew a walk, setting up a bases loaded no out situation for Jake Cronenworth, who delivered his 3rd career grand slam to give the Padres a 6-2 lead. The Padres bullpen contributed three scoreless innings, and the Padres improved to 16-18, and will enjoy a day off on Thursday before beginning a series at Chase Field against the Diamondbacks.
