San Dieguito Academy robotics team competes in competition finals and wins Quality Award

2024-03-19

Earlier this month, students from Team Paradox, San Dieguito High School Academy’s robotics team, competed in Ventura County at a FIRST Robotics competition with their student-designed, engineered and programmed robot. The team’s outstanding performance placed them in fifth out of 50 teams from across the world in qualification matches, according to a news release. By partnering with several other teams to collect data on every robot's performance, the students were able to pick incredible partners for the playoffs, including the Aluminum Narwhals from Canyon Crest Academy.

In a major upset, the Team Paradox alliance defeated the first place alliance, which included the former world champions as well as the top-ranked team at the event, setting up the students to compete in the final matches of the event. In addition, FIRST awarded Team Paradox the Quality Award which celebrates machine robustness in concept and fabrication, the news release stated.

SDA’sTeam Paradox will be competing at the San Diego Regional March 23-24 at the UCSD Liontree arena (9730 Hopkins Dr.). The public is invited to watch high school students put life-sized robots to the test at this free event with over 1,500 students representing 51 teams from across California and the world.
