Northern Lights dazzle the Tri-State
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Some viewers in our region are capturing some amazing photos of the Northern Lights on this Friday night. Chief meteorologist Tony Cavalier said Friday and Saturday nights will be the best times to see the aurora borealis -- typically visible from only the far northern latitudes. He said one of the strongest solar flares from the sun’s surface is responsible for the dazzling show. Cavalier said the solar flare is streaming solar debris across the distant outer space environment, creating a spectacle near both of Earth’s poles.
