SALISBURY — A national retail chain with a location at The Centre At Salisbury is holding a going-out-of-business sale.

Express Inc. is closing its Express Factory store at the mall located off Salisbury Boulevard, which has lost several anchor stores over the years, including Sears, Macy’s, JCPenney, Hect’s and Montgomery Ward.

Signs advertising prices up to 30 percent off were recently placed in the store. Express Inc. announced the closure of 95 of its Express retail stores and all 10 of its UpWest stores located across 30 states and Washington D.C. after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April.

“Express has a strong portfolio of brands and a premier omnichannel platform,” CEO Stewart Glendinning said in a press release. “Our top priority remains providing our customers with the contemporary styles and value they expect from us. We thank our associates for their continued hard work and commitment, and we appreciate the ongoing support of our vendors, suppliers and business partners.”

Founded in 1980 in Ohio, Express Inc. operates more than 500 stores. Two other Maryland locations were announced in the store closing list including Wheaton and Baltimore.
