Salina Liberty release statement on AFL
The Salina Liberty and its ownership group released a statement on the current status of the Arena Football League. Several teams within the current iteration of the AFL have voiced concerns on the league and its lack of leadership and shortcomings on promises made by the league. Three teams have also announced their immediate ceasing of operations, including the Iowa Rampage, Minnesota Myth, and the Georgia Force.

Motorcycle Crashes on Interstate Ramp
A Salina man was hurt in a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle at the junction of Interstate 70 and Interstate 135 Friday evening. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 51-year-old Timothy Barr was riding a 2014 Victory Jackpot motorcycle headed east on I-70 exiting onto southbound I-135. He was traveling too fast to make the curve. The bike rolled onto its side, coming to a rest against a guard rail.

Abilene Reflector-Chronicle staff earned six awards in the annual Kansas Press Association Award of Excellence competition. Reporter Gail Parsons earned first-place awards in the youth story category for a feature titled “Herington child with mosaicism lives life to the fullest,” and Best Environmental Story for coverage of the lesser prairie chicken classification of threatened in Kansas.
