    PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man who was riding a motorcycle died Thursday from injuries he suffered in a crash in Phelps County on Interstate 44 at mile marker 170, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Thomas Zielinski, 54, of Salem, Missouri, died from the crash.

According to the crash report, a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle – driven by Zielinski – was heading westbound when it went off the left side of the road and overturned. The report says Zielinski was ejected from the bike and was hit by a 2012 Kia Sedona in the eastbound lane.

Zielinski was taken by ambulance to Phelps Health in Rolla, where he succumbed to his injuries, the report states. He was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Kia was Gail Peterson, 74, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, according to the report. Peterson had no reported injuries and was wearing a seatbelt. The Kawasaki was totaled, while the Kia had moderate damage, according to the report.
