New Orleans man accused of killing couple in front of kids found guilty
The jury reached a verdict in the trial of a man accused of shooting and killing a couple in 2018. Kenneth Augustine was found guilty of two counts of second-degree murder. In October 2018, Gregory Hesser was shot and killed while holding his 1-year-old in his arms, and his fiance, Darnisha Desilva, was also gunned down.

At the time of his death in 2011, Smith was the longest-serving member of the board, which has one member appointed by the St. Charles Parish Council.
