ST CHARLES, Mo. — Friday, families in St. Charles County could learn the fate of their local library branch. Library leaders are putting some branches on the chopping block. The St. Charles City-County Library board of trustees said it's looking at its future, and that's why the board is considering closures. In a statement sent to 5 on Your Side, officials say the board will hold a public meeting Friday evening, "to hear and discuss a presentation on the state of the library and review a proposal on its future strategic direction."

Tractor-trailer restriction for Old State Road
The St. Louis County Council voted to approve a new restriction of on through traffic of tractor-trailer trucks on a section of Old State Road between Old Fairway Drive and Hwy. 109 in Wildwood last month, amending the county’s traffic code. The restriction was requested by James Vanek from the group Citizens for a Safer Old State and the city of Wildwood.

Contract signed for $46 million public safety facility
On May 13, St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page signed a contract to hire Wright Construction Services to build a new state-of-the-art public safety facility in Maryland Heights. The new facility will be built with $46 million in federal relief funds received from the state of Missouri and St. Louis County, according to a press release. A groundbreaking for the two-story, 49,309-square-foot facility is scheduled for June 5.
