ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Over the last week, many universities across the country has seen protests of the Israel-Palestine War, with many of the protestors being young college kids standing their support of Palestine.

St. Louis has seen protests at many of the area's local universities with protests at Saint Louis University happening earlier in the week before rain cut it short and Washington University seeing a protest on university grounds last weekend , which saw Green Party Jill Stein being among the 100 who got arrested from the scene.

Michael Kelley, host of Hancock and Kelley, which air's every Friday at 8:30 a.m. and a longtime Democratic strategist, says he is scared the protests could be problematic, particularly for Biden.

"What's interesting is while Biden, who has a strong defense of Israel posture, almost has the same beliefs system as Trump when it comes to Israel," said Kelley. "From a political standpoint, it has the White House tied up in knots. That was a word salad he said (Thursday) but he had to say something, so he came out and said it."

Kelley says he think's it's important for many of the college protestors to need to understand there is a difference between peacefully protesting and rioting and lawlessness and the line with this with this issue is very tight for Biden.

"I think (Biden) was reflective of most Americans are where they are supportive of Israel, and we need to reclalibrate as it relates to what's happening to young people in Palestine." said Kelley. "I think he's trying to walk that rope and I don't know how it's going to play out. It's scary because I think there is so much at stake in this upcoming election this type of a wedge issue could really hurt the president re-election opportunity."
