ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A St. Louis County woman was sentenced to six years in prison after admitting she shot at two Confluence Preparatory Academy students outside the school in 2022.

Cierra M. Wealleans, 21, pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

Wealleans had originally been charged with counts of first-degree assault, but prosecutors amended the assault charges to second-degree as part of a plea agreement.

According to a release, police responded to the school at 310 North 15th Street on Dec. 6, 2022, about 3:30 p.m. as the school’s principal led students to school buses. The principal saw Wealleans arguing with several students and keeping her hand inside her jacket.

As the principal tried to de-escalate the situation and usher the students away, Wealleans pulled out a gun and fired toward the students. The principal and a security guard tackled her, prompting the gun to discharge again toward the buses.

The incident was record on the school's surveillance cameras.
