ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Hockey Canada announced the coaching staff for Canada when they participate in the 2024 IIHF World Championships Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic and it will include a St. Louis Blues assistant coach.

Blues assistant coach Steve Ott was announced as one of the coaches for Canada Thursday, joining former Edmonton Oilers Head Coach Jay Woodcroft and former Minnesota Wild Head Coach Dean Evason as assistants. The Head Coach of Canada will be Alex Tourigny, who is head coach of the new Utah Hockey Club that was formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes.

Ott has been a coach for the Blues since 2017, becoming one after retiring from a 14-year NHL career as a player that included playing three of his final four years with the Blues.

This Ott's fourth time representing Canada in the IIHF World Championship, and his first as a coach. The previous three times were as a player. Ott won bronze at the 2001 IIHF World Junior Championship and silver at the 2002 tournament, while he also represented Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Championship.

Ott won't be the only Blues personnel who will represent Canada as Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington told reporters he will participate in the World Championships, which will take place from May 10-26.
