Through the assistance of InRoads Credit Union, the Columbia Pacific Food Bank in St. Helens has been presented with a donation of $2,176 to help with a growing need for food assistance in Columbia County.

InRoads Credit Union held a food drive April 22, through May 3 across its three branches in Scappoose, St. Helens and Rainier.

Donations from the community added up to $1,088 and 490 pounds of food. The credit union matched the donations, for a total of $2,176.

It’s expected these resources will help provide over 7,500 meals for local families.

In a statement provided to Pamplin Media Group, the credit union said, “While this was our first time organizing an actual food drive, InRoads Credit Union has been supporting the Columbia Pacific Food Bank through donations and volunteerism for decades.”

The statement continued, “Our staff feels proud to help in the community, providing essential resources to those in need during the food drive. This effort aligns with InRoads’ mission to promote wellness in all aspects of community life – financially, physically and mentally.”

According to the food bank, one of the best ways to support the food bank’s efforts is to host a food drive, similar to the InRoads effort.

“Food drives keep our emergency food boxes full and our food pantry shelves stocked,” the food bank states on its website. “Organizing a food drive with us can be a rewarding way to help in our community.”

The Columbia Pacific Food Bank is located at 1421 Columbia Blvd. in St. Helens. For more information, visit www.cpfoodbank.org .
