The Sacramento area’s newest sushi spot will serve its dishes on a conveyor belt.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar will open its second regional location on Friday at Roseville’s Highland Village at 250 Gibson Drive, Suite 140, with $3.60 sushi plates, according to a newsletter to subscribers.

The other location is at 1600 Ethan Way , Suite 10, in Arden Arcade.

As of Monday morning, restaurant representatives were not available to comment.

“We look forward to opening our doors and serving you!” the sushi franchise wrote in the Friday newsletter.

Customers who sign up for the newsletter get $5 coupons, only valid for a limited time at the Roseville location when they dine in and spend at least $15.

The menu is packed with options , from nigiri, a slice of raw fish laid over top of an oval-shaped mound of rice, and sushi rolls, to hand rolls and gunkan, rice wrapped in a band of seaweed and topped with ingredients like crab and sea urchin.

What is Kura Revolving Sushi Bar?

Self-acclaimed “pioneers of the revolving sushi concept,” Kura is a Japanese restaurant chain that puts innovation and technology at the forefront of its more than 500 global locations across Japan, Taiwan and the U.S.

At Kura, special attention is given to what goes into its dishes.

“Our philosophy of ‘muten’ or ‘nothing added’ is an ongoing promise that our food is prepared using fresh, high quality ingredients free of artificial sweeteners, seasonings, preservatives and colorings,” the restaurant chain wrote on its site.

Kura opened its doors in Japan in 1977 as a typical sushi restaurant, according to its site.

Nearly a decade later, the revolving concept was born.

In 2009, the first U.S. location opened in Irvine. There are 18 locations in California , including San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

The chain uses a robot — or Kur-B the KuraBot — to help waiters deliver beverages and condiments to tables.

    What’s on the menu?

Four types of ramen are packed with braised pork, green onion and a soft-boiled egg.

The udon dishes get similar treatment. Noodles, green onion and protein are made to swim in “specialty” broth.
