NAMI Walks postponed due to extreme weather

(FOX40.COM) — The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Sacramento has decided to postpone their walk that was scheduled for Saturday due to extreme weather.

“This decision comes in response to the latest weather forecasts predicting severe wind conditions, prompting concerns for the safety of participants and volunteers,” NAMI Sacramento wrote in a social media post. “The health and safety of our community is our top priority. We regret any inconvenience caused by this change, but the risk posed by the predicted high winds makes it necessary to reschedule the event.”

NAMI said they are working to confirm a new date for the walk and will share when was is established.

The goal of NAMI is to help reduce stigmas around mental illness and holds their walks annually on the first weekend of May which is Mental Health Awareness Month.

NAMI Walks is one of the largest mental health resource fairs in Sacramento County.
