(FOX40.COM) — After teasing earlier in the year that a roller skating rink was coming to downtown Sacramento , the organizations involved with its creation have announced an official opening date.

According to Northern California-based entertainment company HOF , the Downtown Roller Rink will debut in Ali Youssefi Square on June 28 and remain there until September 17, providing residents of Sacramento with a family-friendly environment that promises to “capture Sacramento’s rich history and showcasing its exciting present,” the company said in a news release.

HOF co-owner Damian Lynch said, “We’re thrilled to introduce an extended family-friendly activation right in the heart of downtown Sacramento. Our incredible city deserves such an exciting addition, especially in an area that has often felt neglected.”

General admission for the Downtown Roller Rink is $20 while children 6 and under will be charged $10. Each admission ticket will come with a skate rental, HOF adds. The rink will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays through Sundays.

Downtown Sacramento Partnership is a nonprofit organization that worked with HOF to ensure the Downtown Roller Rink’s creation.

The executive director of the partnership, Michael Ault, said, “We’re eager to increase our collaboration with local creators to continue a more people-centered destination downtown, and a summertime outdoor roller rink fits that vision perfectly.”

“Downtown Sacramento Partnership is fortunate to have decades of experience hosting large-scale events and programming, and we’re excited to use those skills to support and uplift community producers,” he added.

HOF said that the Downtown Riller Rink is expected to serve as a “vibrant hub” of community activity offering public roller skating sessions and a “festival of music, dance, family-friendly entertainment, and pop-up experiences.”

Ali Youssefi Square, located at the corner of K and 7th Streets, is also where the Downtown Sacramento Ice Skating Rink is held in the winter.
