Man barricaded in South Sacramento home dies after setting it on fire

(FOX40.COM) — A man was pronounced dead on Friday morning after allegedly starting a house fire during in a South Sacramento neighborhood, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and the Metro Fire of Sacramento.

Just after 1 a.m., deputies responded to the 7300 block of Arleta Court for reports of a domestic violence incident.

Suspect in homicide in Sacramento tunnel arrested

A woman and around five other people exited the home when law enforcement arrived, but the suspect remained in the home.

While barricaded inside of the home the man is said to have attempted to set the house on fire.

Firefighters were able to knockdown the fire, enter the home and rescue the man from the flames.

After receiving medical care from firefighters, the man was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
